Then bring your organization, computer software skills, and dedication to helping others to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank as our next Branch Warehouse Assistant. The Branch Warehouse Assistant provides essential administrative and office support to the warehouse operations team by serving as the main point of contact for partner food pantry agencies in the ordering and pick-up of products for service to guests. This position ensures smooth warehouse operations through customer service, accurate data entry, tracking, and reporting for orders, inventory, and audit control. The Branch Warehouse Assistant also supports Partner Engagement and Program activities.

  • Welcome and assist visitors, guests, and volunteers; answer phones and support completion of paperwork/documentation as needed for visitor needs.
  • Manage the appointment calendar, input data to create agency orders, process inventory system data for product delivery and pick-up, and invoice orders to member agencies. Handle processing of product donations coming into the branch.
  • Perform accurate data entry by coding and classifying information in the database system.
  • Complete, generate, and distribute a variety of reports using the inventory (Ceres) database; communicate with and assist operations personnel with pick-up, delivery, and other activities.
  • Input guest services data into database systems and collect monthly USDA reports.
  • Provide administrative support to partners and program activities as needed.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Bilingual skills a plus.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and knowledge of database and inventory management systems.
  • Highly organized with the ability to maintain accurate records for management and audit purposes.
  • Two years' experience in an office environment, preferably in a nonprofit organization.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to develop rapport with people at all levels; strong commitment to teamwork.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work in an environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to perform physical work as needed to assist guests, visitors, or volunteers.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to the mission of the Food Bank.
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Bilingual skills a plus.
