About The Position

JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges. JT4 is hiring a Branch Supervisor I at Edwards AFB for the JT4 Technical Support and Engineering Department. Job Summary - Essential Functions and Duties A Branch Supervisor I directs and administers the programs to accomplish the functional task and overall development within a technical or administrative branch and is responsible for the organization, tasking, prioritization, and supervision of all personnel within the section. Range Position Description This position is for a Branch Supervisor I at Edwards AFB for the JT4 Technical Support and Engineering Department. The sections included within this branch include all Flight Test Technical Operations personnel located at each CTF. The candidate of this position will be responsible for supervising a diverse group of flight test engineers (Test Conductors, Flight Test Directors, and Operational Engineers), and project leads. Experience with the Annex 1 Developmental Test & Evaluation (DT&E) operations supporting flight test is a must. Working knowledge of the flight test operations, weapons systems, flight line operations, DT&E processes, project management processes, military safety and security regulations, and GFR requirements are desired.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree or a combination of equivalent formal academic, military, or technical training and related work experience; 10 years of experience in a related field; and 2 years of experience in a supervisory/lead role are required for this position.
  • In-depth knowledge of the principles of advanced management obtained through formal or self-study
  • In-depth working knowledge of related career field such as technical trades or scientific and engineering professions
  • Understanding of the operational philosophy and business nature of the company
  • Familiarity with computer-based management tools
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good planning/organizational skills
  • The candidate must be able to work independently, as part of a team, and as senior spokesperson for technical recommendations supporting both JT4 and the Technical Operations Departments.
  • The candidate must possess a well-developed knowledge of DT&E project management and engineering principles and must have an extensive history of demonstrated success in applying this expertise within a development and flight test environment
  • The candidate must possess a valid, state issued driver's license. Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance with special access. Must be a U.S. citizen.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary JT4 point of contact for the Technical Support and Engineering branch.
  • Provide feedback, updates, estimates, provide quarterly EOQ/TOQ and Innovation nominations, and Monthly Status Reports to the department manager.
  • Consistently interact and coordinate with customers on a professional basis to ensure all customer requirements and agreements are being met.
  • Direct and monitor unit compliance with Quality Assurance (QA) and process improvement goals and standards
  • Establish and maintain all technical, administrative, and procedural guidelines to meet the needs of the Branch in accordance with JT4 and Air Force requirements.
  • Maintain current operational status information and assessments on projects, budgets, and development plans
  • Establish, evaluate, and adjust priorities and engineering resources as needed to ensure all mission support is kept on schedule.
  • Encourage skills development and maximize cross utilization across the Branch, Department, and Annex.
  • Establish and cultivate an innovative work environment where cost savings, avoidances and efficiencies are actively realized.
  • Provide operational, technical, and career guidance to all personnel assigned to the Branch.
  • Regularly evaluate and mentor the performance of all direct reporting personnel.
  • Clearly define, develop, and execute engineering and personnel strategies and initiatives.
  • Participate in recruiting, interviewing, selecting and retaining highly qualified candidates for all vacancies within the branch.
  • Make decisions or recommendations for compensation, recognition, discipline or termination of employees.
  • Interact with the site lead engineers, to obtain project/program status, and reach out for additional resources when needed.
  • Mentor section leads and section supervisors and develop career progression plans for the various job titles.
  • Initiate and coordinate branch level team building activities.
  • Act as department manager's delegate when necessary.
