About The Position

The Branch Operations Manager at Santander is responsible for overseeing the operations and service functions of the branch, ensuring compliance with security and operational policies. This role focuses on enhancing the customer experience through effective lobby management and transaction servicing for both retail and business customers. As a key leader in the branch, the Operations Manager provides guidance on policies, assists with escalations, and supports the branch manager in various operational tasks.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • 3+ years of successful experience in branch banking or related operations/support function.
  • Broad knowledge of company policies, procedures, services, and products.
  • Extensive knowledge of branch operations and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent cash-handling skills and ability to maintain and balance a cash drawer.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with a desire to motivate and coach others.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Proven ability to demonstrate exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to interact with various customers and handle difficult conversations effectively.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Basic understanding of personal finances and budgeting.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to compliance and operational risk controls according to company and regulatory standards.
  • Functions as the Vault and/or ATM Custodian, including balancing duties.
  • Completes branch currency ordering and maintains negotiable inventory and audit logs.
  • Performs sporadic teller cash counts.
  • Acts as the second in command to the branch manager, ensuring execution of fundamental behaviors and routines.
  • Assists branch manager with staff scheduling.
  • Provides a variety of transactions for customers, including cashing checks and processing withdrawals, while identifying sales opportunities.
  • Researches and resolves account problems in partnership with the Branch Manager.
  • Observes teller transactions and uses coaching tools to improve customer experience.
  • Communicates effectively with customers to ensure a great customer experience.
  • Documents changes to branch policy and ensures operational readiness.
