Position Summary: The Branch Operations Director is a core member of the leadership team overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Pelham YMCA. Responsibilities include membership growth and retention while supervising all branch Program Directors. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • YMCA Multi Team Leader certification preferred and required within 2 years of hire.
  • Previous supervisory experience in customer service preferred.
  • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all segments of the community.

Responsibilities

  • Meets membership acquisition and retention goals through a welcoming and inclusive environment. Creates a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.
  • Develops and directs high quality member engagement strategies and programs (such as group exercise classes, youth enrichment programs, orientations, special events and more) which support the Y’s goals and strategies.
  • Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs, which support the Y mission, goals, and strategies. Ensures programs and services meet community needs. Establishes plans for the constant expansion and evaluation of programs and services, in harmony with overall YMCA objectives and the leadership team.
  • Responsible for directly leading one department with appropriate assistance and supervising leadership in all branch departments. Lead weekly branch staff leadership meetings and at least monthly one-on-one meetings with direct reports.
  • Overall responsibility for branch staff and program volunteers; ensures hiring managers recruit and hire diverse staff and volunteer teams; makes sure hiring managers on-board and develop staff and volunteers for success; enforces training requirements and documentation of employee performance issues in a timely manner.
  • Develops and manages the department's budgeting and monitoring process so that resources are devoted to top priorities and strategic objectives. Ensures operating budgets meet or exceed targets.
  • Coordinates marketing and social media efforts to maximize enrollments and provides ongoing support to Program Directors on program and branch promotion.
  • Ensures a level of service and engagement that fosters loyalty among those we serve.
  • Make certain proper implementation of procedures occurs. Reviews and updates procedures and communicates changes to staff in a clear, concise way. Coordinates with the business office as necessary on financial transactions and payroll approval. Follows invoice, receipt and credit card procedures in a timely fashion.
  • Attend and be an active participant in all assigned YMCA Cabinets, Committees, Task Forces, Retreats, etc. Take leadership roles when called upon.
  • In collaboration with the Maintenance team and Program Directors, ensures the safety and maintenance of facilities, grounds, and equipment.
  • Assist Group Vice President with branch board development and fund-raising. Create an association-wide Junior Board with other Branch Operations Directors.
  • Effectively communicates community benefit and the Y’s impact for all stakeholders (e.g., staff, volunteers, members, and community leaders). Develops positive working and collaborative relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities.
  • Join at least one community organization or board in your branch’s service area. Build bridges within the community so that all segments of society have access to the Y.
