About The Position

We are excited to hire an Operations Manager for our downtown Chicago Team! This position requires the ability to work a hybrid schedule in our downtown Chicago office but work from home opportunities will be available. The Branch Operations Manager is responsible for leading, motivating, and driving team performance and the overall growth and profitability of the branch through overseeing the loan pipeline through processing, underwriting, closing and post-closing functions. They will manage and mentor the branch support staff including Loan Partners and Loan Processors.

Requirements

  • 5 years of hands-on current mortgage experience, preferably in processing or underwriting.
  • 2 years of recent experience in a Processing Manager, Operations Manager, Pipeline Manager or similar role.
  • NMLS license a plus.
  • Must be proficient in DU/DO, LP, and major Originating systems. Encompass experience preferred.
  • Current experience with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, Condo, Jumbo, Non QM (DSCR and Bank Statement), DPA (IHDA) products and investor guidelines.
  • Strong professional presence; proven ability to effectively deal with challenges.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook applications.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of individuals from various backgrounds and all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and lead team members.
  • Must be flexible, able to prioritize workload, able to manage multiple tasks, and have strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and resolutions to the challenges arising from branch operations.
  • Oversee the loan pipeline from application through funding to ensure critical dates are consistently met.
  • Carry a small, personal pipeline of loans.
  • Train, develop and coach new team members on all aspects of their position (with the exception of how to sell).
  • Monitor daily reports and LOS dashboards to track file status, and reassign or escalate issues as needed to meet turn times.
  • Facilitate a weekly pipeline meeting that reviews in detail every loan scheduled to close in the next 60 days.
  • Set daily priorities for processing team members.
  • Respond to team members’ time-off requests and ensure appropriate branch coverage.
  • Coordinate staffing and capacity planning to meet service level expectations and handle file overflow.
