The Branch Manager is responsible for managing all activities of a branch, ensuring the overall success of the branch operating model, which includes customer and employee experience, digital engagement, transactions/operations, servicing, and sales. The role includes personal production responsibility and requires leading the team through coaching, performance management, and priority setting. The Branch Manager is tasked with identifying customer needs, proactively growing Business Banking relationships, and building the bank's presence in the community. This position also involves ensuring compliance with operational, security, and control policies, as well as maintaining accountability for the execution of Retail strategy.

  • Direct sales and business development to ensure overall profitability.
  • Lead team through coaching and performance management.
  • Build and develop branch staff.
  • Identify customer needs through M&T sales processes.
  • Proactively prospect and grow Business Banking relationships.
  • Conduct interviews and select employees based on staffing model.
  • Model and coach customer service behaviors.
  • Ensure compliance with operational and security policies.
  • Take ownership of complex account servicing and error resolution issues.
  • Engage with team members and business partners.
  • Process Business Banking loan requests up to $100,000.
  • Promote a culture of belonging and reflect the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain internal control standards and implement audit points.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree or four years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum three years of sales experience.
  • Minimum two years of managerial experience or proven leadership abilities.
  • Life/Accident and Health Insurance licensing required within 18 months.
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of Business Banking products and services.
  • M&T Way Certified and Precision Leadership Certified.
  • Bi-lingual/Spanish preferred.
  • Proficient in common PC software, including Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated sales/business development experience and success.
  • Fundamental understanding of profitability.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to demonstrate and coach exceptional customer service.
  • Strong financial services product knowledge.
  • Strong organization, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Competitive salary range of $74,286.06 - $123,810.11 Annual (USD).
