About The Position

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Brake Press operator, you will collaborate with a team to meet on time delivery and exceed our customers satisfaction. You will operate a brake press to fabricate components from sheet metal or metal plates. This is a cross functional role that may operate fabricating machines, such as cutoff saws, rolls, brakes, presses, forming machines, and punch machines, that cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheet, tubes, and structures. This is a 2nd shift position with hours Monday - Thursday 230pm - 1am.  It will require a minimum of two weeks training on 1st shift hours, Monday - Friday, 6am - 230pm.  

Requirements

  • 1-3 years previous experience with Press Brake Operations
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety rules and adhere to core value of business
  • Maintain general work areas and/or equipment used in a clean and orderly condition
  • Ensure proper and effective operation of machine and tools throughout entire process.  Report repairs and/or issues to team lead or supervisor
  • Prepare, set-up, and adjust press brake per product plans to meet production schedules for on time delivery
  • Ensure sufficient raw materials are in inventory to complete work orders
  • Utilize small tools such as grinders to remove scratches, excess weld material and burrs
  • Perform light maintenance on equipment, machines, and other devices used in the normal course of work performed
  • Complete tasks as directed with minimum supervision
  • Confirm material, sizes, and parts match job tickets
  • Ensure all parts and surfaces are free from defects
  • Accurately document work performed per defined procedure
  • Self-monitor quality of own work, and report to lead or supervisor unusual, defective, or operating difficulties
  • Complete all tasks and work within designed quality guidelines
  • Desire to do the right thing
  • Team player, assisting other team members and departments as needed with other duties not routine to position
  • Punctual, on time, ready to work designated shift, every day
