About The Position

In 2024, Follett Products, LLC, expanded its PA manufacturing capabilities with the addition of Kloppenberg in Denver, CO, which is now operating as Follett Denver. Follett Denver is a manufacturer of superior-quality ice storage, ice transport, and ice dispensing systems, serving the market with both the Follett and Kloppenberg brands. Follett Denver is a proud member of the Middleby Corporation family of companies. Follett Denver currently has an opportunity for a Brake Operator to join our team! Job Summary The Brake Operator will use a press brake to form sheet metal parts in accordance with drawings, specifications, and supervisor direction. Supplying the warehouse and the manufacturing lines with finished, cleaned, and deburred parts.

Requirements

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to safely and effectively operate or learn to operate press brake controls.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow product plans.
  • Basic computer and math skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of experience in metal fabrication or related work preferred.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and performing repetitive tasks.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Good manual dexterity and physical stamina.
  • Ability to use foot controls.
  • Must have excellent hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares work to be processed by acquiring the purchased parts, fabricated parts, and/or raw materials and visually inspecting the material for defects.
  • Set up the brake by reading and interpreting part drawings. Following verbal, written, and electronic instructions; writing, downloading, and correcting programs; positioning stops and securing tooling, dies, guides, and stops as necessary.
  • Produces parts by position, material, and operating equipment.
  • Maintains Follett quality and production standards by observing machine operations, detecting malfunctions, adjusting settings, replacing dies, inspecting parts, and deburring parts as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Inspects products, evaluating finished pieces for compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Maintains the availability of fabricated parts by delivering and placing parts in designated storage areas.
  • Maintains schedule by assisting other operators and performing two-person jobs.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; and by notifying the supervisor of hazards.
  • Resolves problems by notifying the supervisor to obtain additional information or resources.
  • Documents actions by completing reports, such as production reports, as required by the supervisor.
  • Keeps equipment and tools operational by following manufacturer’s instructions and by notifying appropriate personnel if needed repairs.
  • Assists in training new employees by demonstrating proper techniques, giving verbal instructions, and answering questions.
  • Maintains workflow by accepting transfers to other jobs within the plant.
  • Maintains inventory levels using various inventory control systems, such as pull boards and min tags.
  • Performs routine preventive maintenance on the press brake.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned, including assisting in brake apart operation at the laser, assisting material handlers, and operating vibratory and deburring machines when requested.
  • Complete end-of-line transactions in the ERP system for manufacturing jobs.
