About The Position
The Boys Varsity Basketball Assistant Coach position at Lordstown Local Schools is a vital role within the athletic department, focusing on the development and success of the basketball program. The assistant coach will work closely with the head coach to implement training sessions, develop game strategies, and foster a positive environment for student-athletes. This position requires a commitment to educational-based athletics, emphasizing the importance of academics alongside sports. The assistant coach will be responsible for mentoring players, ensuring they understand the rules and strategies of basketball, and helping them improve their skills on and off the court. In addition to coaching responsibilities, the assistant coach will be expected to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students. This role is not just about coaching; it involves being a role model and leader for the student-athletes, promoting teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. The assistant coach will also be involved in organizing practices, preparing for games, and contributing to the overall success of the basketball program. Strong communication skills are essential, as the assistant coach will need to convey strategies and feedback effectively to players and collaborate with the head coach and other staff members. The position is full-time and requires a valid State of Ohio Pupil Activity Permit or the ability to obtain one. Successful completion of BCI I & FBI background checks is mandatory. The salary for this position will be determined as per the supplemental negotiated agreement, reflecting the importance of this role within the school's athletic framework.
