About The Position

Under the direction of the Athletic Director, the Boys Varsity Baseball Head Coach is responsible for creating, leading, and managing the High School Boys Baseball program, focusing on player development, team strategy, and overall program success. This brand new program offers the Head Coach the exceptional opportunity to help shape the boys baseball program from the ground up. Establishing its traditions, fostering a positive and respectful culture rooted in discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork, and developing a competitive identity within the league. This position requires travel and work in the evenings and weekends.

Requirements

Passion for coaching student athletes
Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Successfully pass a mandatory background check
CPR & First Aid Certification required or ability to be certified
Ability to motivate, teach, and recruit qualified student-athletes to reach their full potential
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize
Experience working and communicating with diverse groups of people.
Ability to act professionally, use discretion, and maintain the highest level of confidentiality
Ability to make decisions and handle conflicts
Problem-solving skills and creativity
Deep understanding of baseball fundamentals, rules, and regulations
Ability to develop game plans and adjust strategies during games
Experience with player development and skill progression
1-2 years of coaching experience at the high school, competitive club, or collegiate level

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with CIF rules and regulations
Commercial Drivers License with passenger (“P”) endorsement or school (“S”) endorsement

Responsibilities

Lead with passion and love for the game of baseball
Foster a positive, disciplined, and respectful team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship and teamwork, building great team chemistry
Design and execute organized, efficient, and purposeful practices that address individual and team needs
Develop and implement effective game plans while making in-game adjustments to support player growth and team performance.
Supervise player behavior and conduct, ensuring a safe environment during practices, games, and travel
Coordinate with the Athletic Director(s) and assistant coach(es) to align systems, terminology, and expectations across the baseball program
Maintain clear and respectful communication with players, parents, coaching staff, school administration, and Athletic Director(s)
Player evaluation and development
Assess players consistently and fairly to determine playing time, roles, and readiness
Focus on developing, improving, and refining fundamental and advanced baseball skills and game understanding
Prepare players for varsity level competition
Student athlete support and mentorship
Serve as a positive role model, encouraging personal growth, accountability, and a strong work ethic both on and off the court
Monitor academic progress and encourage student-athletes to maintain eligibility and prioritize their education
Operational and logistical support
Set up practice and game areas and fields and clean up after ensuring everything is secure and the area is returned to its original condition.
Keep the practice areas clean and safe
Attend all team practices, contests, and activities
Send weekly updates through the school’s sports management platform
Facilitate uniform and other baseball gear distribution and collection back from players
Compose and submit post game and post season write ups
Transport players using a school vehicle to all road contests
Attend various coaches meetings, trainings, Senior Nights, awards nights, and other events as scheduled
