About The Position

Bishop DuBourg High School seeks a committed, energetic, and motivational Boys Basketball Coach to lead its student‑athletes in a program rooted in teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal integrity. The ideal candidate will mentor players both on and off the court, promote skill development, and foster a competitive yet character‑driven athletic environment that reflects the mission and values of the school.

Requirements

  • Prior basketball coaching experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategy, and player development.
  • Ability to model positive leadership, strong character, and professionalism.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education; willingness to support and uphold the school’s faith‑based environment.
  • Completion of required background checks, certifications, and MSHSAA training.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and direct all aspects of the boys basketball program, including practices, games, conditioning, and player development.
  • Teach fundamental and advanced basketball skills, strategies, and techniques appropriate for high school athletes.
  • Build a positive team culture grounded in respect, discipline, accountability, and Christian values.
  • Model and promote sportsmanship, ethical behavior, and academic responsibility.
  • Develop season practice plans, game strategies, and player evaluations.
  • Supervise student‑athletes during practices, games, travel, and team activities.
  • Maintain clear communication with players, families, athletic department staff, and school leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with MSHSAA regulations, school policies, and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with the Athletic Director regarding scheduling, equipment needs, budgets, and program logistics.
  • Support student‑athletes’ holistic development through mentoring, encouragement, and academic awareness.
  • Promote the program through outreach, community engagement, and encouragement of participation.
  • Oversee assistant coaches and support staff to ensure alignment with program goals.
