About The Position

Box Truck Drivers are responsible for efficiently and safely loading and unloading trucks and trailers at the warehouse using pallet jacks and forklifts and driving trucks to stores, Attended Donation Centers and warehouses as needed. Box truck drivers also sort, stock, process or dispose of donated goods, recycled materials, salvage materials, garbage, and hazardous materials. This position requires the ability to become forklift certified and to safely operate, regularly clean, and help maintain the forklift.

Requirements

  • One year box truck experience
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and DOT drug screen
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and have an insurable driving record
  • Must have a valid Oregon or Alaska Driver’s license
  • Must be able to read and write the English language and have sufficient command of the English language to communicate with customers, co-workers and supervisors
  • Represent the company by practicing highest-quality customer service; including respectful treatment of all customers and staff.
  • Maintain well-groomed appearance and acceptable dress in compliance with GILSCC’s dress guidelines.
  • Uses correct lifting and material handling techniques.
  • Ensure compliance with all GILSCC’s policies, CARF standards, and state safety and security regulations.
  • Must provide identification and eligibility to work in the United States of America.
  • Must pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug-screening test, and subsequent drug screenings as required.
  • Must exercise good judgment.
  • Be flexible in work assignment to accommodate changing production demands.
  • Must have sufficient command of the English language to communicate with customers, co-workers and supervisors.
  • Reports for scheduled work regularly and on time.
  • Notifies supervisor as soon as possible regarding the need and expected duration of any absence.
  • Must be able to perform essential functions of the Material Handler/Baler-Box Truck Driver’s job description task analysis with or without accommodation.
  • Must be able to follow written or verbal instructions.
  • Must be able to work all hours of operations and be able to work a flexible schedule.
  • Must be able to read and write.
  • Must be able communicate effectively with co-workers and customers.
  • Must be able to function independently and as part of a team.
  • Reports for scheduled work regularly and on time.
  • Notifies supervisor as soon as possible regarding the need and expected duration of any absence.
  • Must not present a direct threat to the safety and health of self, others or to property.
  • No record or disclosure of criminal conviction that indicates a tendency toward theft, violence, dishonesty, deceit, drug manufacture or sale, moral turpitude, or predatory behavior.
  • Must provide identification and eligibility to work in the United States of America.
  • Must pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug-screening test, and subsequent random drug screenings as required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

  • Must possess a valid Oregon or Alaska driver’s license and have an insurable driving record.
  • Must be able to obtain the Medical Examiner's certification to be physically qualified to drive a commercial motor vehicle.
  • Must have a valid Driver License, preferably a CDL Class A or B.
  • Must be able to do heavy lifting, stand, walk, carry, push, pull, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, grasp, kneel and climb.

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift experience preferred
  • Forklift experience desirable or ability to become Goodwill forklift certified.
  • Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload trucks and trailers at the warehouses and stores using pallet jacks and forklifts
  • Drives box trucks to stores, Attended Donation Centers and warehouses as needed, obeying all traffic laws and following security procedures to protect Goodwill vehicles and property
  • Maintain accurate pick-up and delivery records, logs, inspection reports, and incident reports as assigned and perform safety inspections at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Notify immediate supervisor of any damage to vehicle(s) or needed maintenance.
  • Safely and correctly operates heavy equipment to include carboard and trash compactors, textile balers, forklifts, and tilters
  • Practice safe lifting and material handling techniques
  • Maintain a clean, neat and orderly vehicle exterior and interior.
