About The Position

The Box Truck Driver and Donation Assistant plays a crucial role in providing a positive donation experience for donors while supporting the operations of the ReStore. This position involves driving a box truck to pick up and unload donations, sorting and preparing items for sale, and maintaining the cleanliness and order of the truck and receiving area.

Requirements

• Ability to safely drive and maneuver a box truck.
• Demonstrate problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Work well and communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Establish, foster, and maintain effective working relationships.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted, 75 pounds assisted.
• Ability to bend down to pick up and move items as well as climb a ladder.
• Must demonstrate safety awareness in vehicles and use of equipment.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid NC driver's license with no moving violations in the past year.

Responsibilities

• Ensure every donor receives timely, courteous service.
• Confirm all pick-ups and deliveries prior to leaving the ReStore.
• Evaluate items for pick-up and reject unacceptable items using Stop-Wait-Roll.
• Secure items in the truck using padding/straps as necessary.
• Use safety equipment provided in the truck to avoid injury.
• Drive the truck in a safe manner, being aware of overhangs or other obstructions.
• Unload trucks in a timely manner, sort and prepare donations for the sales floor.
• Assist in the pricing of merchandise.
• Provide donors with receipts upon request.
• Sweep/clean the truck at the end of the shift.
• Keep areas of responsibility clean and neat, including proper disposal of trash and recycling.
• Assist donors or customers with general information or questions.
• Assist in the inventory, storage, and movement of donated and purchased products.
• Perform other duties as assigned with a sense of humor and team spirit.
