About The Position

The Residential Coordinator for the Bovard Scholars program is a full-time, live-in position responsible for overseeing a summer residential experience for high-achieving high school students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. This role involves training and supervising resident assistants, providing leadership and support to scholars, and ensuring a safe and enriching environment during the program. The coordinator will manage daily operations, respond to emergencies, and facilitate activities that promote student learning and development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Supervisory experience within residence life/residential education preferred
  • Experience working with youth/young adults
  • Experience working with low-income students and families
  • Superior writing and communication skills
  • Ability to understand the unique social-emotional needs of individual students
  • Demonstrated cultural awareness and competency
  • Ability to adjust to changing priorities and perform well under pressure
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability and willingness to operate a motor vehicle preferred

Responsibilities

  • Train, supervise, and evaluate 9 resident assistant (RA) staff members.
  • Provide leadership to scholars and create a respectful and friendly atmosphere that stimulates student learning and development.
  • Establish rapport with scholars and RA staff through attentive listening and genuine care.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to RA staff, delegating tasks appropriately and overseeing completion.
  • Respond to emergency situations including psychological, physical, maintenance, and natural/environmental crises.
  • Enforce university and Bovard Scholars policies, confront student behavior, and document actions when necessary.
  • Create and implement an enriching evening and weekend schedule of activities for scholars.
  • Serve as a collaborative member of the leadership team, troubleshooting and problem-solving across teams.
  • Maintain continuous communication with RA staff via various channels.
  • Oversee student attendance and manage the check-in/out system for scholars.
  • Lead meal and event coordination, including off-campus excursions and transportation schedules.
  • Document all student medical concerns and coordinate with RAs for health center visits.
