About The Position

The Bottle Shop Manager oversees daily operations of the tasting room bottle shop, ensuring an exceptional guest experience through knowledgeable wine guidance, warm hospitality, and seamless service. This role manages wine and retail merchandising, inventory accuracy, and cash handling, while also supporting front of house operations and special events. The Bottle Shop Manager works closely with the Lounge Manager to create a welcoming, well-organized environment that reflects the winery's standards of quality and hospitality.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of retail experience; prior management experience strongly preferred
  • Winery, tasting room, or hospitality experience preferred
  • Knowledge of wine and wine-tasting experiences desirable
  • Proven track record of professional growth and success in prior roles
  • Strong leadership, delegation, and team-building skills with a "can do" attitude
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding customer service orientation with the ability to create memorable guest experiences
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Goal-driven with the ability to develop and achieve sales objectives
  • Computer literacy required
  • RAMP and ServeSafe certifications required (must be maintained throughout employment)
  • Dependable, motivated, and able to work independently while taking direction well

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily opening and closing procedures for the Bottle Shop
  • Manage wine and merchandise inventory, including monthly counts, transfers, and reporting
  • Ensure accurate tracking of wine movement between tasting room, lounge, banquet, kitchen, and events
  • Support wine club operations including order pickups, events, and coordinating with the Wine Club Concierge
  • Assist with wine shipping, labeling, and seasonal winery support (e.g., harvest activities) as needed
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise tasting room staff, ensuring proper coverage for daily operations and events
  • Coach team members on wine knowledge, sales techniques, guest service standards, and POS system use
  • Partner with management to develop and implement staff training programs that build product expertise and brand loyalty
  • Monitor performance, provide feedback, and support professional growth of team members
  • Serve as a visible leader in the tasting room and lounge, actively engaging with guests through table touching, wine education, and personalized service
  • Maintain a welcoming, professional, and clean environment that reflects the winery's brand standards
  • Respond to guest inquiries, resolve concerns, and ensure all visitors enjoy a memorable experience
  • Assist with lounge operations and provide coverage in the absence of the Lounge Manager
  • Manage and facilitate tasting room and special events, coordinating with other departments as needed
  • Ensure events are staffed appropriately and run smoothly while maintaining exceptional guest service
  • Track sales goals, monitor performance, and support staff in achieving individual and team targets
  • Oversee scheduling and labor management in alignment with operational and budgetary needs
  • Maintain compliance with all RAMP and safety standards
