About The Position

As a key member of the Boston Whaler team, you will be responsible for developing new employees into productive team members through structured, hands-on training. This role manages the day-to-day operations of the training program, delivers technical and safety training, and supports employee development aligned with organizational standards and best practices. The trainer works closely with leadership to ensure trainees are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their roles.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in a hands-on operational or manufacturing environment
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills to engage diverse audiences and convey information clearly
  • Ability to effectively utilize technology/tools to deliver training in multiple formats
  • Ability to identify learning gaps and tailor training delivery to accommodate different learning styles
  • Ability to assess associate comprehension and provide constructive feedback to reinforce learning
  • Ability to utilize new approaches and techniques for training including blended learning
  • Ability to evaluate associates' understanding
  • Strong understanding of business metrics and how training impacts organizational performance
  • Capacity to respond to unexpected challenges with flexibility, professionalism, and composure
  • Ability to interpret technical documents such as diagrams, prints, or work instructions
  • Proven ability to coach and mentor others in a positive and constructive manner
  • Attention to detail and ability to identify quality or performance issues

Nice To Haves

  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt trained
  • ABYC/NMMA Certification
  • Experience with other fiberglass manufacturing processes including but not limited to; Trim & Grind, Finishing, Lamination
  • Marine related experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Experience developing or maintaining training documentation and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate hands-on training sessions focused on fiberglass boat manufacturing including but not limited to assembly, lamination, and finishing
  • Lead and manage the technical training program, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and company standards
  • Conduct Advanced Training to build specialized skills beyond entry-level tasks
  • Perform Key Process Audits to evaluate trainee adherence to critical production procedures
  • Implement structured Follow-Up Checkpoints at 30, 60, 90, and 365 days to monitor trainee progress and development
  • Train employees on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and compliance
  • Deliver Supplier Training to align internal practices with external quality expectations
  • Support Quality Improvement Initiatives by identifying skill gaps and providing corrective instruction
  • Provide Safety Training on key topics including safe handling and disposal of MEKP, proper use of Fall Protection equipment, and safe operation of Trailer Caddy systems for hull transport
  • Maintain training materials, supplies, and documentation to support effective instruction
  • Collaborate with supervisors, team leaders, and Quality Inspectors to ensure training supports operational goals
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to trainees and support their transition into production roles
