The Team You’ll Work With: The Mayor’s Office of Mass Engagement (OME) is responsible for strategizing, coordinating, and executing on engagement that reaches the masses of everyday New Yorkers. We engage New Yorkers in shaping policy outcomes, demystifying government, and ensuring that the government remains accountable to serving the people of this great City. Our work is designed as a long-term project – we are building the power of everyday New Yorkers, and we are building a City that works for all of us. The Problems You’ll Solve: The Borough Manager – Brooklyn will: - Maintain key relationships in the borough and track high-level issues within the borough. - Work with other staff to help identify and maintain organizing opportunities in the borough. - Help manage a team of people who are building layers of engagement throughout the borough. - Attend relevant civic, community board, community meetings, and other events. - When relevant, ensure follow-up on constituent cases. - In emergency situations, Borough Managers might be asked to be on the scene to represent the Mayor’s Office. Emergency situations include, but are not limited to, blackouts, tragic deaths, high-profile crimes, fires where people are impacted, and water main breaks or street collapses where people are evacuated from their homes. - Help move the Office of Mass Engagement forward with their borough team in the direction of their Deputy Borough Director. - Providing additional support as necessary. About You: - You are a committed organizer, passionate about ensuring that the public can meaningfully engage in the development and implementation of government policies and processes. - You are passionate and knowledgeable about Brooklyn. - You are an enthusiastic collaborator.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 2+ years of experience.
