About The Position

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs through our strategic solutions in the areas of Information Technology, Test & Evaluation, Program Mission Support, Engineering & Analysis, and Training. As a Border Security / Data Architect SME with AMERICAN SYSTEMS you will have the opportunity to do the following: Establish and maintain data architecture standards, including canonical data models, dictionaries, and metadata frameworks to support enterprise analytics. Design and optimize data pipelines and integration strategies for multiple source systems, ensuring data quality, lineage, and governance across ingestion points. Conduct advanced data analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities; translate insights into actionable recommendations for operational and strategic planning. Develop dashboards to communicate program health, performance metrics, and mission outcomes to senior leadership. Drive automation of reporting processes and artifact generation to reduce manual effort and improve accuracy across program deliverables. Assist leading complex programs and projects from initiation through execution, ensuring compliance with federal regulations, acquisition policies, and agency standards. Understand and analyze integrated master schedules (IMS), risk registers, and governance frameworks to track milestones and mitigate schedule and cost risks. Assist with overseeing program budgets, funding allocations, and obligation tracking; provide financial analytics and forecasting to support strategic decision-making. Serve as primary liaison between government stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on objectives, deliverables, and timelines. Define and implement program performance metrics and KPIs; prepare executive-level reports and briefings for leadership and oversight committees. Facilitate stakeholder interviews and feedback loops to capture requirements, improve processes, and enhance knowledge management practices. Lead cross-functional teams in developing and executing test plans, deployment strategies, and readiness assessments for government systems and solutions. Support enterprise risk management by aggregating risk data, performing probability-impact analysis, and presenting mitigation strategies to decision-makers. Champion continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging data-driven insights to refine program execution, resource allocation, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Active CBP BI or TOP SECRET
  • U.S. Citizenship Required for the purposes of obtaining/holding a U.S. security clearance
  • 12+ years' supporting Government solutions, 5+ years specific to Border Security
  • BS Degree required, Master's preferred
  • Experience with various border security technologies
  • Knowledge of best practices related to deployment of border security technologies.
  • Understanding of the geographical and environmental conditions and challenges related to deployment areas and techniques for adapting to these conditions.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing border technology use and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
