About The Position

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Boom Truck Driver to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to operate a boom truck to lift, move, position, and reposition heavy loads safely, efficiently, accurately, and on-time. The ideal candidate will have experience operating boom trucks and possess a CDL Class B license as a minimum (CDL Class A drivers are also acceptable). While prior experience with boom cranes is desired, it is not a requirement, as we provide training and certification for all boom crane operations in accordance with OSHA requirements. Beyond supplying materials, we provide a full range of manufacturing support—including truss plants in North and Central North Carolina, millwork and door shops in the Triad and Charlotte metros, and custom fabrication in Pineville, where we also craft specialty products like reclaimed lumber flooring, cabinetry, mantles, and siding. Requirements

  • Must have a current/valid CDL Class B license (CDL Class A drivers are also acceptable).
  • Must have a current DOT Medical Card
  • Must accept the completion of a full FMCSA query request by The Building Center
  • Professional demeanor
  • Ability to pass a drug test and background check.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Willingness to undergo OSHA crane training and certification provided by the company.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience operating boom trucks is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a boom truck to lift, move, and position heavy loads according to job requirements.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the boom truck to ensure safe operation.
  • Secure loads properly using chains, straps, and other appropriate equipment.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and DOT, DMV, and OSHA laws and regulations while driving and operating the boom truck on public and private roadways and at all loading and delivery locations.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including load information, driving hours, and maintenance checks.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
