About The Position

Hudson is North America's leading travel retailer, with over 30 years of experience in meeting the needs and desires of travelers in more than 1,000 duty-free, duty-paid, and food & beverage stores. We are looking for a Bookstore Supervisor who enjoys reading and sharing knowledge about books, thrives on customer interaction, and is committed to providing exceptional customer service. This position offers a competitive hourly pay rate of $22.30 and full-time hours.

Requirements

  • At least one year of retail supervisory experience
  • Previous experience supervising in a bookstore
  • Love for reading and talking about books
  • Ability to help lead daily activities
  • Friendly and engaging leadership style
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Great at managing time and juggling tasks
  • Solid problem-solving skills
  • Able to lift 40lbs
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Become knowledgeable and familiar with books, suggest similar authors or titles, and help customers find exactly what they want.
  • Open and close the store, and handle shift changes.
  • Supervise and support the store staff.
  • Greet customers and ensure they're helped by knowledgeable, friendly associates.
  • Prepare the cash register, conduct spot checks, verify end-of-shift cash reconciliations, and handle deposits; keep money secure at all times.
  • Make sure staff show up on time, in clean uniforms, with nametags.
  • Report any staff tardiness or absences to management.
  • Assign daily duties to sales associates and keep them updated on any changes.
  • Know your bookstore products well and keep the shelves stocked and rotated.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards (e.g., dusting, sweeping, mopping).
  • Manage book returns and inventory flow using the inventory system.
  • Organize and merchandise store displays to highlight key titles and boost sales.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy through proper receiving, returns, file transfers, and routine cycle counts. Supervise these tasks.
  • Help order books and other merchandise to reflect the needs of the local community.
