About the position

Henry Ford College presents an opportunity for a Bookstore Associate. The Bookstore Associate performs a variety of functions in the bookstore including merchandising and customer service. Depending on the need this role may serve as the primary point of contact, coordinator, and liaison for all third-party sponsorships or website order fulfillment and support, ordering food and beverage products for resale, and customer service. Schedule: Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for third-party sponsorships and website order fulfillment.
  • Order food and beverage products for resale.
  • Provide customer service and support.
  • Process third-party sponsorship transactions for various programs.
  • Act as a liaison between the College Store and other departments for sponsorship-related matters.
  • Maintain and update Excel spreadsheets for sponsored students' accounts.
  • Coordinate document imaging of third-party paperwork.
  • Identify and report technical issues related to the website.
  • Coordinate order shipments with the Logistics Associate.
  • Process refunds and cancellations for web orders.
  • Assist with store administration and organization.
  • Operate office machines, including computers and cash registers.
  • Handle customer returns and concerns.
  • Facilitate bus pass sales and related transactions.
  • Provide graduation and special event coordination and support.
  • Ensure proper stocking and rotation of items.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of customer service experience, preferably in a college or retail environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to use computers, databases, and automated systems effectively.
  • Experience in retail sales and operating a cash register is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage tasks independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to perform physical job duties, including stocking inventory and operating a cash register.
  • Good judgment, professionalism, and a positive attitude in customer service interactions.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and professionalism in all duties.

  • Knowledge of electronic commerce principles and methods.
  • Experience with problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, customer-facing environment.
