Under the direction of the Circulation Manager and the supervision of the Building Supervisor, the Bookshelver/Processor is responsible for the efficient, thorough and accurate processing, sorting, and shelving of all Library materials at the assigned Library location. Will be required to work evenings and weekend hours as part of the regular work schedule. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following; other duties as assigned: Provides excellent customer service by helping staff members and/or patrons locate materials on the shelves or in the processing area. Assists in the training of newly hired Bookshelver/Processor staff. Shares responsibility for prioritizing the daily workflow and efficient operation of the processing area while maintaining a prompt and reliable attendance record. Prepares and loads carts for outbound delivery and unloads and sorts materials on inbound delivery carts. Retrieves and processes materials returned via the inside and outside drop boxes. Retrieves and processes available materials requested electronically and by telephone. Processes materials returned from other Ann Arbor District Library locations. Processes materials requested by and returned from other Michigan eLibrary and Inter-library Loan locations. Shelves materials and maintains shelving areas in an accurate, neat, and orderly fashion. Shares responsibility for ensuring circulation readiness of materials by assessing and removing or repairing damaged or mislabeled materials. Attends AADL staff and Facilities department meetings as scheduled. Assists with inventory, shifting collections, and searching for missing, claims returned and in transit items. Maintains a prompt and reliable attendance record.
