About The Position
As a Bookseller at Barnes & Noble, you will play a crucial role in creating a welcoming and engaging environment for customers. Your primary responsibility will be to provide excellent customer service that is friendly, genuine, and professional, ensuring that customers feel valued and prioritized. You will engage with customers both face-to-face and over the phone, sharing your knowledge and passion for books to help them choose the perfect book or gift. Your enthusiasm for bookselling will be evident as you create enticing displays that are neat, tidy, and vibrant, enhancing the overall shopping experience. In addition to customer interaction, you will be responsible for executing bookstore basics, which include maintaining a vibrant and inviting store atmosphere through attention to presentation, commerciality, and localization. You will leverage key campaigns, such as Our Monthly Picks and pre-orders, to engage customers in conversation and promote sales. Continuous education about books and the industry will be essential, as this knowledge will enable you to provide customers with an exceptional shopping experience. You will also collaborate with your store team to identify key titles and tailor the merchandise selection to reflect the community's interests. Keeping the store organized and shoppable will be part of your daily tasks, along with assisting with events and community outreach initiatives. Protecting company assets by adhering to processes that control shrink, expenses, and payroll will be a critical aspect of your role. You will model expected behaviors to ensure compliance with all policies and procedures, and your physical presence on the selling floor will require activities such as prolonged standing, bending, lifting, and climbing, as well as working in the Café when needed.
