We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team, reporting to the Director of Operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing our financial records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The successful applicant will have experience with general ledger reconciliation, double entry bookkeeping, and nonprofit accounting, with a strong understanding of GAAP and technical accounting principles. The role is an excellent opportunity for a bookkeeper to work with a reputable organization and develop their skills in financial reporting and analysis. As a full charge bookkeeper, you will maintain the church's financial records, including purchases, donations, receipts, and payments. This position involves working closely with the lead pastor, trustees, church treasurer, and other church leadership as needed. You will ensure compliance with legal requirements, process accounts payable, and manage invoices. Your responsibilities will include recording all deposits into QuickBooks under the correct accounts, overseeing bank accounts, processing payroll for employees, reporting payroll taxes, processing check vouchers, and preparing monthly and annual financial statements. The successful candidate will be expected to provide monthly QuickBooks reports for reconciliation with bank statements, produce a monthly balance sheet and financial report, and transfer financial data to the Treasurer at the end of each month. This role requires a proactive and self-starting individual with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
