About The Position

The Bureau of External Affairs/Information Support Services has an opening for a Bookbinder in the Graphics/Reproduction Unit to support, trouble-shoot and provide assistance and services. Graphics and Reproduction Unit provide DOHMH with cost-effective, quality print materials in a timely manner. Produce Manuals, brochures, business cards, certificates, envelopes, forms, flyers, newsletters, plastic signage, slides and stationery. In addition, this Unit produces layouts, negatives and digital output.

Requirements

  • A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and one year of satisfactory full-time experience in operating various commercial grade machines which assemble, drill, glue, fold, cut and bind printed material; or
  • Three years of satisfactory bookbinding experience operating various commercial grade machines as described in the previous point; or
  • Education and/or experience equivalent to the above.

Nice To Haves

  • Some experience with handling machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate graphics design work to meet customer requirements and provide effective interface between the agency and customers.
  • Operate Challenge Cutters, Horizon Perfect Binder and MBO Folders.
  • Perform job delivery and distribution.
  • Work with Challenge MS-10A Drill Press, MPC Paper Cutter, Docutech 6135, Image runner Pro 7150, Canon 8150/905 black and White and Color machines and 9075 machines.
  • Adjust machines for paper size and weight, number of copies and pages, and position of folds and stitches as required.
  • Prepare test copies.
  • Check for completeness and accuracy of print job, fine tune machines settings for best possible result.
  • Set up machinery, monitor operation of equipment, making necessary adjustments to meet job specifications and produce uniform impressions.
  • Maintain equipment to run in good order and make any necessary routine repairs.
  • Review work of other staff members and receive training by staff members on a variety of reproduction machines.
  • Perform other printing and bindery work as necessary.
  • Perform other assignments as assigned by the Assistant Commissioner and/or Deputy Director.
