The Bone Density Technician is responsible for performing high-quality Bone Density (DEXA) scans in accordance with established protocols and safety standards. You will ensure accurate imaging and proper documentation while maintaining a focus on patient comfort, care, and safety. This role collaborates with healthcare providers to support diagnostic and treatment planning by providing clear and precise imaging results.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Must be a Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT), in good standing.
  • Certification in Bone Densitometry (BD) required within one year of hire: R.T. (R) (BD) (ARRT).
  • Certification as a Bone Densitometry Technologist (CBDT) through the International Society of Clinical Densitometry required within one year of hire.
  • Current state licensure required prior to employment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross.

Nice To Haves

  • One year experience as a general Radiologic Technologist with BMD training.

Responsibilities

  • Produce images of optimal quality for interpretation with accuracy and without delay.
  • Analyze scans and make preliminary interpretation of results.
  • Maintain documentation/database requirements to ensure that all technical data is entered timely and accurately.
  • Notify management and take proper action to address equipment malfunctions.
  • Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
  • Ensure patient comfort during and after the exam.
  • Report, immediately, any malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator.
  • Provide instruction/mentoring to new hires and Radiology students.
  • Strive to learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions.
  • Participate in off-site community educational events.
  • May be required to rotate through all imaging modalities, sites, and/or locations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
