Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology or related allied health program, required
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), required
  • Licensure by the Virginia Department of Health Professions, Board of Medicine as a Radiologic Technologist or Limited Radiologic Technologist for Bone Density operation, Required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-focused approach
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
  • Basic computer proficiency and experience with electronic medical records

Nice To Haves

  • Bone Densitometry certification through ARRT (BD) or ISCD (CBDT), Preferred
  • Previous experience performing DEXA scans preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform bone density (DEXA) examinations in accordance with established protocols and safety standards
  • Prepare patients for procedures by explaining exams, answering questions, and ensuring patient comfort
  • Operate and maintain bone densitometry equipment, ensuring proper calibration and quality control
  • Accurately document patient information, exam results, and technical data in the electronic medical record
  • Follow radiation safety guidelines and infection control policies at all times
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and clinical staff to support patient care and scheduling needs
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
  • Participate in continuing education and competency training as required
