About The Position

The role of the Boilermaker / Welder - Foreman (BWF) is to ensure the field personnel are operating within the guidelines and rules as established by the company. The Foreman shall promote, enforce, monitor and assist in establishing any new or current policies for the Service Department. The BWF shall act as a liaison between the Service Manager and the Boilermaker / Welder personnel. In the event of a disagreement or a request for a meeting between the Service Manager and any Service Department personnel, the BWF and the Service Manager will jointly meet with the field person (unless otherwise agreed to) to resolve any issue. Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the field personnel are operating within the guidelines as established by the company.
  • Enforcing all policies as established by the Service Department.
  • Answering questions related to the methods of repair, service, alteration or any items related to the Boiler Department.
  • Provide leadership in the manner of day to day execution of all duties.
  • Provide a role as a 'go to' man for the field service personnel.
  • Monitoring the vehicles related to the Boiler Department and working with the Service Manager to enhance the vehicles and equipment.
  • Helps to establish and provide recommendations for tooling, supplies, stock and equipment required by the Boiler Department.
  • Discusses issues with employees and works directly with the Service Manager to achieve a mutually acceptable outcome.
  • Visits job sites to ensure jobs are proceeding as scheduled.
  • Provides education and conducts meetings on a regular basis to achieve a higher level of ability in field service personnel.
  • Reviewing, coordinating, and setting up jobs with the Service Manager and the dispatcher to ensure proper setup of the jobs.
  • Involved in the hiring process for Field Technician personnel.
  • Works with the Safety Coordinator to monitor field personnel for safety and incentive programs.
  • Must have strong electrical and troubleshooting skills working with electrical systems from 12 VDC to 480 VAC.
  • Must have good communication skills and the ability to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Repair and/or replace parts and miscellaneous equipment.
  • Must be detail oriented in completing work orders, all required forms, summaries, and checklists.
  • Must have strong language skills as well as industry-specific vocabulary.
  • Basic mathematics, algebra, and formula knowledge are required.
  • Must have very strong reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have strong people and customer service skills in a professional setting.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently and perform with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to apply knowledge to customer's current and future needs.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to produce detailed but concise quotations pertaining to customer requirements.
  • A valid driver's license is required. Must be insurable with no major infractions.
