About The Position

Cleaver Brooks Sales and Service is looking for a Boilermaker Service Technician/Welder to join our team in Des Moines, IA. The Boilermaker Service Technician/Welder provides planned and emergency services to Watertube, Firetube and auxiliary support equipment. Performs and leads the welding of code and non-code items/structures. Job Location: Des Moines, IA (Relocation assistance will be provided for any non-local candidates selected for hire)

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess or obtain a valid Class E driver's license with a safe driving record.
• Must be able to pass a DOT physical
• The ability to pass an ASME certified 6G test
• Basic mechanical and pipefitting skills
• Ability to stay overnight for complex projects and work weekends and after-hours for emergency situations
• Prior Boilermaker experience is strongly preferred
• 60-75% regional/domestic travel required
• Requires stooping, climbing, bending, crawling, and lifting 50 pounds, working in confined and elevated areas, and prolonged standing.
• Some work in physical plant environment where plant orientation may be required and safety precautions are required.â May encounter some unpleasant working conditions of brief duration.â Little to no contact with hazardous conditions.

Responsibilities

• Function as the lead on core welding projects, for ASME code and standard welds.
• Ability, aptitude and desire to learn complex boiler mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and preventive maintenance, as well as some combustion tuning & controls.
• Other duties as assigned.
