NIKA is hiring for a Boiler Tender Operator for a Coast Guard base operations support services contract in Kodiak, AK! Job Duties and Responsibilities: The boiler tender operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining steam and hot water boilers located within the USCG Base facilities. The duties include but are not limited to monitoring boiler operations, adjusting controls to maintain optimal performance, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring safe and efficient operations. Tends one or more boilers to produce steam for use in an establishment, fires boilers, observes and interprets readings on gauges, meters, and charts which register various aspects of boiler operation. Adjust boiler controls to ensure safe and efficient boiler operation and to meet demands for steam or high-temperature water. Stands on twelve-hour (Operator) and eight-hour (Maintenance) work shifts at the plant and the remote workstations on a rotating basis (days and nights) a minimum of 40 hours weekly to maintain all equipment.

Requirements

  • Must at minimum possess a current State of Alaska Power Boiler Operator license
  • High school education or GED preferred
  • They shall be trained and certified on the equipment and software on which they are working from an industry-recognized train
  • Valid Alaska driver’s license
  • Must remain in good stand with the local Teamster 959 Union

  • Adjusting boiler controls to ensure safe and efficient boiler operation and to meet demands for steam or high-temperature water.
  • Standing on twelve-hour (Operator) and eight-hour (Maintenance) work shifts at the plant and the remote workstations on a rotating basis (days and nights) a minimum of 40 hours weekly to maintain all equipment.
