About The Position

ERG is seeking a Boiler Technician to support the operation, maintenance, and repair of boiler systems. This role is critical to ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient steam and heating operations in compliance with applicable codes, safety standards, and ERG/client requirements. This full-time position is at the Naval Support Facility (NSF) Indian Head. Indian Head, Maryland, is approximately 30 miles from Washington, D.C.; 25 miles from Alexandria, Virginia; and 60 miles from Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of HVAC experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in facilities maintenance, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Valid boiler operator or boiler technician certification/license, as required by the state or facility.
  • Strong working knowledge of boiler operations, controls, and safety systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and operating procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • This position will require a pre-employment physical exam.
  • This position requires lifting objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Work may be performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g., fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals).
  • You may be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, and reach during shifts.
  • Must be able to use carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other gear to move items.
  • Must be able to go up and down stairs, where applicable.
  • Must currently hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret-level security clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, as this position is not eligible for Limited Access Authorizations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in federal or government facilities is preferred.
  • associate degree in facilities maintenance, engineering, or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain boiler systems, including associated pumps, valves, piping, and control systems.
  • Perform routine inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance to ensure boilers operate safely and efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair boiler and auxiliary system issues.
  • Ensure plant operations comply with OSHA, EPA, state, and local regulations, as well as site-specific safety requirements.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams, supervisors, and facility staff to support overall plant operations.
