About The Position

The Boiler/Refrigeration Operator and Mechanic Apprentice position involves performing and participating in all aspects of the preventative maintenance process, including completing tasks to specifications and processing follow-up work orders. The ideal candidate will operate, maintain, and troubleshoot various systems including Ammonia refrigeration, Boiler steam, and Pneumatic systems equipment. The role requires flexibility in working hours, with a training schedule of 5:30am to 1:30pm Monday to Friday, and potential shifts after training based on departmental needs. Overtime work will also be required. The apprentice will be an active member of the Plant Emergency Response Team and will perform root cause failure analysis on equipment breakdowns. Additionally, the role includes providing training for other associates and supporting maintenance leadership with equipment inventory levels.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
  • Basic math, reading, and communication skills.
  • Ability to adjust to temperature changes and work in varying environments.
  • Prior Boiler, Refrigeration, and manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including bending, squatting, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with HVAC systems.
  • Familiarity with SAP and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and participate in all aspects of the preventative maintenance process.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot Ammonia refrigeration, Boiler steam, and Pneumatic systems equipment.
  • Implement PSM Process Safety Management program tasks.
  • Analyze equipment failures and recommend continuous improvement tasks.
  • Perform mechanical maintenance tasks as assigned by leadership.
  • Assist and support maintenance leadership with equipment bill of materials.
  • Provide training for other associates as needed.
  • Support and maintain positive rapport with customers, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Convey ideas and facts clearly through verbal and written communication.
