About The Position

Serve as Boiler Plane Operator to operate, service, maintain and repair boiler and heating plants. The role involves operating, servicing, maintaining, and repairing boilers and heating plants to produce steam or high temperature water for use in an establishment. The operator will fire the boiler, observe and interpret readings on gauges, meters, and charts, and register various aspects of boiler operation. Adjustments to controls will be made to ensure safe and efficient boiler operation and to meet demands for steam or high temperature water. Additional responsibilities may include maintaining a log of boiler operation, cleaning and making repairs to boiler room equipment, treating boiler water with chemicals, and analyzing boiler water for acidity, causticity, and alkalinity. The operator is also responsible for completing job-related paperwork, keeping the work and plant area clean, painting and insulating plant and distribution equipment, and performing all work in a safe manner in accordance with safety practices and procedures. Other related work may be required or assigned.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience operating boilers.
  • Willingness to complete Power Plant Boiler Maintenance and Operations Certification training if required.
  • Availability to work other shifts as directed.
  • Possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Have and maintain a Master, Journeyman, or Apprentice Gas Card.
  • Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required.
