About The Position

A position in the Missouri Department of Corrections is more than just a job; it is a calling. Corrections employees play a vital role in transforming lives, equipping individuals within the criminal justice system with the necessary skills to contribute positively to their communities, both inside and outside the prison walls. With over 95 percent of individuals entering the prison system ultimately being released, the department is committed to ensuring that these individuals are prepared to be good neighbors upon their return to society. As a Boiler Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining high-pressure steam boilers and high-pressure/high-temperature water boilers, which are essential for the production of facility heating, hot water, and electrical generation. This role involves not only the operation of the boilers but also the maintenance of auxiliary equipment such as water softeners, boiler feed pumps, fuel conveyors, vacuum pumps, and circulating pumps. You will monitor water levels, pressure readings, and fuel consumption, performing chemical tests on water and recording readings in the plant operations log. In addition to operating the equipment, you will adjust controls to maintain proper flow and ensure safety during operations. Responsibilities also include powering down, cleaning, and assisting in the repair and maintenance of boilers and auxiliary equipment. You will be expected to maintain a clean and safe work area around the boilers and auxiliary equipment, receiving general administrative direction with your work being reviewed through inspections and efficiency of operations. Other related work may be assigned as necessary.
