Crane Currency has an immediate position opening for a Power Plant Operator in Dalton, MA. Must be able to work 12-hour day shift and 12-hour night shifts on a rotating basis. We offer shift differentials when working nights and time and a half if you more than 8 hours in a day! Plus, double time on Sundays! The pay rate is based off the type of license you currently have (Must have at least 2nd class fireman). Crane will offer in house training to obtain advanced licenses and pay you more for it! How you will make an impact: The Power Plant Boiler Operator will be responsible for the operation of all power plant equipment ensuring the continuous generation of steam and electricity to the plant. This includes the startup and shutdown of boilers, turbines, and feed water pumps. Communication is important with key personnel on the status of the Crane central steam delivery system. In addition, the Boiler Operator must be competent in administering the feed water testing program. This is a rotating shift position that will also require the ability to work weekends and overtime.

  • Maintain all equipment as needed.
  • Clean tubes on operating boilers.
  • Wiping units clean.
  • Changing and cleaning fuel oil guns and strainers.
  • Check boiler operations alarms and interlocks for proper operation.
  • Maintain proper salt level in water softener.
  • Maintain correct chemical balance on operating boilers, and boilers taken off line.
  • Perform pipe fitting with instruction.
  • Steam system repairs, rebuild steam traps, replace steam coils, replace pressure relief valves and steam control valves, replace tube bundles, maintain PIC heaters, etc.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of a 2nd Class Firemen's License
  • Continuous education requirements must be kept up to date.
  • Mechanical/technical aptitude
  • Complete all continuing education requirements of the MA Dept of Public Safety for licensing renewal.
  • Actively pursue and attain a 3rd Class Engineer's license within 2 years of securing the position.
