THE OPPORTUNITY Manufacturing careers that offer more: The Primient Boiler Operator / Engineer role is not your typical factory job. There is some manual labor. But you are not just standing on a line or doing simple repetitive tasks. Each shift is different, with new problems to solve and wide-ranging duties to perform as part of a team. From your first day onwards, you will be learning and mastering key skills – to start on the path to becoming a skilled technician. Boiler Operator / Engineer – the need to know You will help to ensure the safe operation of our process through a highly automated, state-of-the-art system. We put a strong focus on safety – it is always front of mind. Your role will involve climbing stairs and ladders and working in warm and cold temperatures. Manual labor is not the main part of the job, but you do need to lift and carry up to 55 lbs at times

Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent
  • Basic math, reading, and problem-solving skills
  • Passionate about safety not only for yourself, but for your co-workers as well
  • This individual must possess, as a minimum, a State of Minnesota Engineer License 2nd Class ‘B’.

Responsibilities

  • Operation of Site’s boiler and associated equipment.
  • Operation of De-ionized water units (DIW).
  • Assist with safety related activities of raw material unloading.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of the boiler room and associated areas.
  • Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the State of Minnesota, Department of Labor and Industry, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Site Quality System (ISO), Safety rules and regulations, and Site Personnel Policies.
  • Boiler Engineer must have knowledge of and ensure compliance of all EHS requirements.
  • Immediately blow down the boiler gauge glass to determine the true boiler water level.
  • Careful inspection of the boiler proper shall take place.
  • Inspection rounds of all other areas of responsibility shall take place. These areas include, but are not limited to the following areas: Oil dike and oil pump house D.A. tank Nitrogen system MAN and Sulfuric dikes De-ionized water system Compressor systems
  • Boiler water will be tested according to established procedures outlined by the chemical supplier contract. Procedures are documented at the water test station.
  • The boiler will be blown down (bottom and/or surface) after the water test is complete. Blow down schedule is determined by the status of water conditions and is posted at the water test station.
  • Engineer is required to monitor the plant status by a structured and documented ‘ROUNDS’ system. The system also includes designated times for pH testing of various water supplies including but not limited to: Boiler water pH Condensate return pH
  • Each engineer is required to carryout the shift duties according to established safety procedures as documented in the plant safety manual.
  • Each shift engineer is required to conduct him or herself in accordance with established personnel practices.
  • The engineer on watch is required to act as a safety stand-by for activities located at or near the boiler room. Examples ae unloading of railcars and maintenance entry into dike systems.
  • Deviation from any of the requirements listed can only lead to disciplinary action, including discharge.
