About The Position

This position is open to current Colorado residents only. Please note: This recruitment may be used to fill multiple vacancies. The Division of Facilities Management exists to plan, design, construct, operate, maintain, and manage the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) facilities and campuses according to all applicable standards in a manner that promotes the CDHS mission of providing a safe, sanitary and effective environment for clients, youth, residents, consumers, and staff and enhances the quality of life in CDHS facilities and campuses. Facilities managed by Northern District DFM include the Colorado Mental Health Hospital at Fort Logan (CMHHFL), Department of Human Services (DHS), Wheat Ridge Regional Center (WRRC), and Division of Youth Services (DYS) facilities. This work unit exists to operate, maintain and manage the CDHS Central heat plant, facilities and campuses according to all applicable standards. This position exists to provide operations and maintenance functions for the facilities' physical plant equipment located within the Heat plant structure, performing essential operational functions, maintenance, cleanliness, preservation, and repairs to ensure effective operational practices.

Requirements

  • Four years of work experience in boiler operations performing preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance.
  • Possession of a current and valid non-restricted Colorado driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of a valid Stationary Engineer License 'A', ASOPE or equivalent.
  • Previous high-pressure coal fired steam boilers operations and maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

  • Operation and maintenance of high temperature hot water generators using natural gas and diesel.
  • Analysis of all process fluids entering and leaving the steam plant.
  • Operate and maintain all environmental emission control systems.
  • Accomplish assigned scheduled preventative equipment maintenance.
  • Maintain plant cleanliness.
  • Ensure proper operation of plant machinery including valves, pumps, fans, turbines, and electric motors.
  • Troubleshoot and repair plant machinery.
  • Monitor, adjust and operate the High Temperature Hot Water Generators.
  • Provide support for various equipment located at different sites.
  • Answer phones from building tenants and dispatch DFM personnel.
  • Coordinate and oversee after hours emergencies.
  • Monitor Apogee facility automation system for alarms.
  • Operate, test, and maintain diesel powered emergency electric generators.
  • Maintain grounds area surrounding the building.
  • Perform water testing and chemical treatment on various systems.
  • Snow removal.
  • Other duties as assigned.
