About The Position

The Boiler Operator is responsible for operating and documenting the systems and services of the Utilities Department, including high-pressure boilers, compressed air, chillers, and fire systems. This role requires adherence to safety and GMP programs, as well as providing coverage for the Chief Operating Engineer and alternate shift operators. The position involves monitoring utilities through automation systems and assisting with capital and expense projects.

Requirements

• High Pressure Blue Seal Engineers License, issued by State of NJ.
• Refrigerant, toxic Blue Seal, issued by the State of NJ.
• Proficient with specialty programs such as Building Automation System, fire alarm system, and energy management software.
• Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and Windows operating system.
• Ability to read and interpret technical equipment drawings and documentation.

Nice To Haves

• Red Seal Engineers License, issued by State of NJ.
• Certified in LO/TO and confined space entry, fork lift operation.
• Graduate from Vocational Institute with specializations in electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, or HVAC.

Responsibilities

• Conduct the duties of a Boiler Operator for three high pressure boilers as prescribed by law.
• Operate and document all systems and services of the Utilities Department, including boilers, compressed air, chillers, co-generation, switch gear, fire systems, and water treatment.
• Provide coverage for Chief Operating Engineer and alternate shift operators in their absence.
• Plan, prioritize, and coordinate the activities of Utility operation, outside contractors, and service providers on the off-shift.
• Monitor and troubleshoot utilities through Building Automation and Fire System HMI's.
• Assist Engineering with the development of capital/expense projects targeting area improvements.
• Adhere to and maintain GMP and Safety programs in the Utilities Department.
• Provide alternate shift coverage for vacation and sick leave.
• Provide call-in service to Operations 24/7.
• Participate in emergency call-in requests as needed.
