About The Position

The Boiler Inspector position within the New York State Department of Labor is responsible for conducting regulatory safety inspections of high and low pressure boilers and boiler installations. The role ensures compliance with safety standards and statutory provisions related to boiler operations. The inspector will address complaints and accidents, requiring physical agility and the ability to work in various environments.

Requirements

  • Four years of experience in boiler making, installation, inspection, or operation and maintenance of high/low pressure boilers.
  • An associate degree in engineering technology or related fields can substitute for part of the experience requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct scheduled regulatory safety inspections of high and low pressure boilers and boiler installations.
  • Ensure safe operating conditions and compliance with statutory provisions of the Labor Law.
  • Investigate complaints and accidents related to boiler operations.
  • Climb through small openings and on top of boilers as part of inspections.
