Body Shop Painter / Prepper / All-Around Technician
About The Position
Universal Truck Service LLC is a company built on the belief that great service and quality are not a thing of the past. The founders started Universal Truck Service in 2000, with the purchase of a small failing shop in New Brighton. Over the years our success and growth has led us to Roseville and a 68,000 square foot facility with a complete 18 bay truck shop and state-of-the-art body shop as well as our new Tanker and Trailer repair facility just 10 minutes north in New Brighton. We are seeking a skilled and dependable Body Shop Painter, Prepper, and All-Around Technician to join our team. This multi-skilled role is responsible for prepping vehicles for paint, painting, assisting in body repairs, and supporting general shop operations. The ideal candidate is experienced, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in auto body prep and paint required
- Knowledge of paint mixing systems and refinishing techniques
- Familiarity with auto body tools and safety practices
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Responsibilities
- Prepare vehicles for painting (masking, sanding, taping, priming)
- Mix and match paint for accurate color and finish
- Apply paint using spray guns and other equipment following OEM standards
- Inspect painted surfaces for quality and make corrections as needed
- Assist technicians in minor bodywork repairs (dent removal, filler work, panel alignment)
- Disassemble and reassemble vehicle parts as needed for paint or repair
- Support body technicians with part replacement and hardware installation
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the paint booth and work areas
- Clean tools and equipment after use
- Assist with inventory control of paint and materials
- Follow safety protocols and use PPE appropriately
