Our team is looking for (3) Automation (Robotics and Vision) Engineers to have the opportunity to work in a team environment to continuously improve production equipment and processes utilizing the latest automation control technology. Candidates must be capable of performing in a highly technical Global Robotics, Vision and Controls environment assigned to Body Shop. Candidates will help troubleshoot equipment issues and manage small to medium sized projects on a wide variety of equipment that progresses the organization to the next level of manufacturing effectiveness. Arlington Assembly Plant is a 3 Shifts/6 days Production operation Plant; candidates for this position will be required to rotate between first, second, and third shift on a periodic basis and availability to support weekend work activities based on area specific needs (including support during scheduled Holiday downtime).

  • Enforces safe work practices as the highest priority.
  • Responsible for robotics and vision engineering & electrical support (robotics and vision modifications and continuous improvement of production processes).
  • Investigates systems and equipment problems and provides technical input in problem resolution.
  • Provides technical support, direction, and training to Maintenance Personnel/Skilled Trades within the organization.
  • Actively participate in the Bodyshop projects from the corporate office: Provide direction from the plant related to project scope, issues, risks and schedule.
  • Handle issues to closure.
  • Suggest improvements to reduce on-floor execution and down time.
  • Guide and approve hardware and software designs done by suppliers.
  • Guide and approve robot simulations and vision analysis done by suppliers.
  • Communicate project status and ensures all plant internal customers are aware of progress through project meetings, status reports and reviews.
  • Represent plant during buyoff at supplier's site.
  • Responsible for in-house engineering of hardware designs, software designs, emulation, integration and commissioning.
  • Coordinate project timing schedule, design deliverables and safety aspects with Bodyshop and Plant team.
  • Coordinate installation, tests and startup of internal projects.
  • Prepare and share 'Lessons Learned' for the completed projects.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years' experience in any Automotive companies or Software Companies with Automation background.
  • In depth Knowledge of FANUC Robots - Hardware, Software, Programming and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge on Robotic applications like spot-welding, arc-welding, dispensing, roller hemming etc.
  • Knowledge of Karel Programming for FANUC Robotic Systems.
  • Knowledge of Vision Hardware and software (i.e. Photoneo and Keyence Applications).
  • Knowledge of Machine Vision hardware/software (Matrox).
  • Knowledge with vision guided Robot Applications (i.e. INOS, Perceptron, Fanuc Vision).
  • Background on control systems and/or control systems in automotive assembly plants.
  • Familiar with PLC hardware and software (Rockwell preferable), HMI (Siemens preferable), Drives, Networks.
  • Be able to read Electrical/mechanical drawings, layout and have design capabilities.
  • Ability to understand electrical and electronic requirements for mechanical equipment's Robot interface with other equipment (PLC, Line Controller, Other Machines etc.).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve complex issues.
  • Analytical ability and creativity to solve unusual and difficult problems.
  • Ability to work with intercultural, multi-disciplinary & remote teams to achieve functional goals.
  • Strong ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Strong follow up to handle multitasking.
  • Flexibility to change quickly from one assignment to another as priorities change.
  • Understanding of manufacturing and tooling processes required.

  • Ability to organize, plan, prioritize and execute projects with a keen attention to details.
  • Ability to travel domestically 10% of the time or higher based on business needs.
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 7+ Years of experience in any Automotive companies or Software Companies with Automation background.
  • Body Shop Assembly Process experience.
  • 2+ years of experience of Vision Hardware and software (i.e. Photoneo and Keyence Applications).
  • 2+ years of experience of Machine Vision hardware/software (Matrox).
  • 2+ years of experience with vision guided Robot Applications (i.e. INOS, Perceptron, Fanuc Vision).
  • Experience on Siemens HMI will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of interface to upper-level systems.
  • Basic Knowledge on programming skills such as XML, C#, J Script, VBA, Python etc.
  • Experience with Robot simulation studies and experience on Robot simulation software will be an added advantage.
