Penn State is searching for a full time Body Repairer - Grade 4 to join the team. Duties include examining damaged vehicle bodies and preparing time and materials estimates for repairs, repairing damaged bodies and parts of vehicles, straightening dents, removing various components and accessories to gain access to body parts needing repairs, filling depressions with solder, lead, or other plastic materials, filing, grinding and sanding repaired surfaces using power and hand tools, replacing windshields, rear and side glass and seal, refinishing repaired surfaces by priming and smoothing, mixing paints to match according to prescribed formulas and applying, removing excessively damaged components using hand tools or cutting torch, installing replacement components by bolting or welding, painting replaced components with rust preventative components, straightening bent frames using hydraulic jacks and pulling devices, performing repairs related to body work, removing, disassembling, repairing, reassembling, reinstalling, testing and adjusting equipment and/or component parts such as alternators and generators, electrical systems, steering and suspension parts, drive shafts and differentials, brake systems, etc., as related to accident damage, operating various pieces of testing and repair equipment, such as wheel aligners, wheel balancers, and other equipment necessary to determine extent of repairs necessary, making repairs and adjustments as necessary, inspecting vehicles according to Commonwealth of Pennsylvania inspection regulations, maintaining record of inspections performed on vehicles, requisitioning parts from stock room and recording same, maintaining work areas in clean and orderly condition, and detecting unusual conditions or defective materials and reporting to supervisor.
