About The Position

We’re hiring a Body/Paint Department Service Manager to lead and scale our heavy truck collision and refinishing operation. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for driving production, maintaining top-tier quality standards, and managing a high-performing team in a fast-paced commercial repair environment. You’ll oversee all aspects of the body and paint department—from workflow and technician performance to customer satisfaction and financial results.

Requirements

  • 5–7+ years of progressive experience in heavy truck or commercial vehicle body and paint repair
  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing 15+ technicians in a body/paint environment
  • Strong technical expertise in: Frame and suspension repair, Body panel repair (steel, aluminum, fiberglass, composite), Commercial vehicle refinishing processes
  • Deep knowledge of modern paint systems, including color matching, blending, and refinishing techniques
  • Proven ability to hit production goals, maintain quality, and control costs
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to hold teams accountable and drive performance

Nice To Haves

  • I-CAR, ASE, or OEM certifications (PPG, Axalta, Sherwin-Williams, etc.)
  • Experience managing large fleet or national account customers
  • Background in heavy truck dealerships or high-volume collision centers
  • Experience with department-level P&L ownership

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of 15+ body and paint technicians
  • Drive daily production, cycle times, and throughput to meet or exceed targets
  • Ensure high-quality repairs and refinishing standards across all work completed
  • Oversee job scheduling, work distribution, and shop workflow optimization
  • Manage department profitability, including labor efficiency, materials usage, and cost control
  • Partner with estimating, parts, and operations teams to ensure smooth job execution
  • Maintain strong relationships with fleet customers and key accounts
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies
  • Monitor KPIs such as turnaround time, rework rates, and gross profit margins
