About The Position

This position is responsible for overseeing the implementation, maintenance, and operation of body-worn camera systems within the organization, ensuring these systems are effectively utilized by law enforcement personnel or other relevant staff, in alignment with legal requirements, departmental policies, and best practices. This role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, conducting training sessions, managing data storage and retrieval, staying abreast of technological advancements in body camera systems. Handling sensitive information captured by body cameras requires a strong sense of ethics and discretion to maintain confidentiality and adhere to privacy regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, law enforcement, information technology, or a closely-related field as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment AND one year of experience in law enforcement, security, or technology management, including working with body-worn camera systems and associated software. (Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.)
  • OR: Two years of experience working in law enforcement, security, or technology management, including working with body-worn camera systems and associated software. (Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.)

  • Valid driver license is required at time of application.
  • Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment.
  • The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicant’s suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures.
  • Failure to maintain the required licensure shall be grounds for termination.
  • The County requires pre-employment background checks.
  • Successful candidates will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history.
  • A prior criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify a candidate from employment with the County.
  • This position requires satisfactory completion of a personal background investigation by the court or law enforcement agencies, due to the need for access to County Attorney and Court facilities, records, and communication systems.
  • This position will require a post-job offer physical and/or drug screen.
  • Must be able to tolerate offensive sights
  • Must meticulously review camera footage for accuracy
  • Requires sharp vision to identify details
  • Demands good hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the procurement, installation, and activation of body-worn camera systems for authorized personnel
  • Collaborates with vendors and internal departments to ensure seamless integration with existing infrastructure and workflows
  • Develops and conducts training programs for staff regarding the proper use of body camera systems, including guidelines for activation, deactivation, and data management
  • Provides ongoing support and guidance to ensure compliance with policies and procedures related to body-worn camera usage
  • Assists with the development and updating of policies governing the use of body-worn cameras, in accordance with legal requirements and organizational standards
  • Monitors compliance with established policies and procedures, conducting audits and investigations as necessary
  • Coordinates with Information Technology (IT) and relevant departments to maintain data integrity and facilitate timely access to recorded footage for legal or investigative purposes
  • Conducts regular inspections and quality checks of body camera equipment to ensure functionality and reliability
  • Coordinates repairs, replacements, and upgrades as needed, in collaboration with technical support teams or vendors
  • Serves as a liaison between internal departments, external agencies, and community stakeholders regarding body camera initiatives.
