About The Position

The Bodily Injury Claims Manager is responsible for overseeing the day‑to‑day management, evaluation, and resolution of bodily injury claims. This role ensures that claims are handled in accordance with company standards, client expectations, and regulatory requirements. The manager provides technical expertise, strategic direction, and leadership to a team of bodily injury adjusters, fostering a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of experience handling or managing bodily injury claims, including complex and high‑severity losses.
  • Strong understanding of liability principles, medical terminology, injury evaluation, and industry regulations.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with a track record of developing talent and improving team performance.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners.
  • Proven negotiation skills with the ability to resolve claims efficiently and fairly.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with claims management systems and related technology tools.
  • Professional insurance designations (e.g., CPCU, AIC, SCLA, or equivalent).

Responsibilities

  • Bodily Injury Claims Management Oversee the end‑to‑end handling of bodily injury claims, including investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and resolution.
  • Review complex, high‑severity, or litigated bodily injury claims, providing expert guidance and direction to adjusters.
  • Ensure accurate liability and compensability assessments, applying knowledge of negligence standards, comparative fault, and joint & several liability laws.
  • Guide settlement strategies within policy limits to protect policyholders and clients while ensuring fair and defensible outcomes.
  • Monitor claim trends, injury patterns, and loss drivers; identify root causes and recommend proactive risk‑mitigation strategies.
  • Partner with defense counsel on litigated matters, ensuring alignment on strategy, reserves, and case progression.
  • Leadership & Team Development Lead, coach, and develop a team of bodily injury claims adjusters, providing ongoing mentorship, technical training, and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a collaborative, supportive, and high‑performance team culture focused on service excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Identify skill gaps and training needs; implement development plans to enhance technical expertise and career growth.
  • Support workforce planning, including workload balancing, staffing needs, and succession planning.
  • Process Improvement & Compliance Drive initiatives to improve claims accuracy, efficiency, and consistency across the bodily injury unit.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain strong partnerships with legal, medical, SIU, finance, and other internal departments to resolve complex claims and manage emerging risks.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of claims guidelines, workflows, and quality assurance standards.
