The Bridge Operator operates machinery to open and close movable bridges, inspects and makes routine repairs to electrical and mechanical equipment, and assists in the cleaning of roadways, bridge houses, and engine rooms. The operator keeps records and makes reports of accidents and bridge openings. Employees may be assigned to work nights, weekends, and holidays and are expected to perform related duties.
