About The Position

Under supervision, serves as Project Engineer in Field Operations Unit of Quality Assurance in the Bureau of Engineering Review and Support, Division of Bridges. Visits multiple construction sites and oversees construction activities related but not limited to major bridge components erection, concrete and asphalt placements, embankment, subgrade and base installation, pile driving and drilled shaft installation, reinforcing bars formwork installation etc. Generates field reports on findings and deficiencies observed during inspection to assure work compliance with project plans and specifications. Have ability to review design drawings and demonstrate knowledge of NYSDOT Standard Specifications. Verify project and material acceptance records and their compliance with NYSDOT MURK (Material Uniform Record Keeping) requirements. Possess knowledge of concrete and asphalt material properties, principles of mix design, method of placement, concrete curing and field material inspection and testing. Review MPT (Maintenance and Protection of Traffic around the jobsite and adjacent streets for safety protection for public and motorists. Participates in contractor's progress meetings, QA's meetings and performs other related duties.

Requirements

  • One year of full-time satisfactory experience in supervising project management work.
  • Experience in managing construction projects valued at $1,000,000 or more.
  • Baccalaureate degree in relevant fields or equivalent experience.
  • At least one additional year of supervisory experience or project management for large/complex projects.
