About The Position

The Boatyard Diver performs underwater inspection, monitoring, and support activities related to vessel positioning, structural integrity, and safety within the boatyard. This role focuses on underwater observation, reporting, and assistance during haul-outs, launches, and vessel storage, with particular attention to keel blocks, vessel supports, and underwater components. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Perform visual inspection of sling areas prior to hauling Ability to install padding and chaffing gear as necessary to protect both hull and lifting equipment. Be able to identify and report structural damage prior to lifting. Maintain dive equipment, tools, and safety gear in proper working condition Assist with emergency response or salvage operations when required

Requirements

  • PADI Open Water or higher.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of proven experience are required
  • The ability to demonstrate high proficiency in these areas.
  • Knowledge of vessel construction and marine systems
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and instructions
  • Ability to take directions and follow instructions
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
  • Ability to work on a variety of assignments on a daily or hourly basis
  • Strong ability to be reliable, dependable, and work as a team
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift and handle equipment
  • Comfortable working around heavy machinery, vessels, and marine traffic
  • Ability to work in low visibility, confined, and cold-water conditions
  • Frequent standing, balancing, walking, climbing ladders or equipment, reaching above shoulder or out in front, manual dexterity, pushing, pulling, kneeling, bending, seeing, hearing
  • Physical ability to lift, push, pull and carry 50+ lbs.
  • Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, talk or hear.
  • The vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Hearing warning signals and reading and comprehending safety instructions.
  • Must be able to maintain general safety awareness and avoid hazards commonly present in employee’s work area.
