About The Position

PCSA is seeking a motivated and experienced person to help with general maintenance, upkeep, and repairs with boats (powerboats, J/22 sailboats, youth sailing dinghies), as well as facilities, including moorings, boat yard, storage, and docks . The ideal candidate will have proven sailing, rigging, composites, and general boating experience. This seasonal, part-time role is focused on weekdays, with opportunities to work on the weekend. The sailing season dates are May 18th - September 30th. This is a part-time, hourly position, based on demand, that can be fairly flexible. Additional hourly work opportunities may include working in Race Committee management, assisting with group sailing events, and offering launch service and support to Access members. Ideal candidates for this position come from many walks of life (mechanics, bosuns and boatwrights, fiberglass and composities experts, lifelong sailing experts). We offer competitive compensation starting at $18 per hour (based on experience; negotiable for exceptional candidates). Requirements

  • Prior experience in the field
  • State Boating Safety Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to operate powerboats safely in variable conditions
  • Current First Aid & CPR/AED Certification (or willingness to obtain with PCSA financial support).
  • Clean background check.
  • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs and move between dock, classroom, and administrative areas frequently
  • Authorization to work in the United States (we unfortunately cannot provide sponsorship).

Nice To Haves

  • Current First Aid & CPR/AED Certification (or willingness to obtain with PCSA financial support).
  • Other relevant or equivelant certifications for sailing competency
  • Additional water safety certifications (e.g., lifeguard, basic keelboat knowledge).

Responsibilities

  • Execute on delegated tasks related to providing maintenance to sailboats, powerbloats, docks and dry-land areas
  • Refuel, clean, and manage boats
  • Rigging, launching, hauling boats
  • Operate safety boats in accordance with US Sailing best practices
  • Servicing Mooring balls, chain amd rope
  • Providing occassional launch service and support to Access members commuting to J/22s on moorings
  • Document and report incidents in accordance with policy
  • Update maintenance management system
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions
