About The Position

The Town is seeking multiple Boathouse Operators to assist with operations at Lake Benson Boathouse. These customer­ focused positions assist the public with canoe, kayak and jon boat rentals for use on Lake Benson. Ideal candidates will enjoy working with the public in an outdoor setting.

Lake Benson Boathouse is scheduled to be open mid-May through September. The Boathouse will be staffed on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 6:30-3:30 PM. Additional shifts are available on other days, mainly in the evenings for public paddle programs.

Successful applicants will be scheduled 10-40 hours per week during the season with flexibility in scheduling on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays depending on availability.

Requirements

• Be able to safely lift 50 lbs. repeatedly during shift.
• Be at least 17 years of age.
• Be comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
• Have a valid North Carolina driver's license with a good driving record.
• Have a current CPR certification or the ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
• This is a weekend position. Candidates must be available to work regularly on Fridays, Saturdays, and/or Sundays throughout the season.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with boating operations and rentals, boating and fishing regulations, and operation of recreational facilities is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Welcoming visitors and explaining rules and regulations for jon boat, kayak, and canoe rentals
• Processing paperwork and payments for rentals
• Inspecting and preparing boats and other equipment for use
• Monitoring the Boathouse and lake for the safety and comfort of participants
• Monitoring compliance with boating and fishing regulations and Town of Garner policies
• Opening and/or closing the facility
• Assisting with Town-wide special events as needed
